How to Stake IRIS

Use the Keplr to stake IRIS to the Interstake One validator

Click “Chains” on the navigation bar on the left

Select IRISnet chain

Enter Interstake One in the search bar or find it manually

Click the “Delegate” button

Specify the amount of IRIS you would like to stake and click “Delegate”

Delegation is one of the blockchain functions that makes tokens locked for a certain period of time (until the moment of unbond tokens from staking), and also these tokens are not transferred to a third party. So when you send tokens to staking, you are still their full owner.
Staking rewards come from transaction fees and inflation. Each block (~7 seconds) generates a certain amount of IRIS — this is called network inflation, it is distributed among the stakers.
To withdraw tokens from staking, you will have to make the appropriate transaction. From this point on, tokens are no longer in delegation and you do not receive staking rewards. However, full unlocking of the tokens will occur after 21 days.

The risks may include the fact that if you have delegated your tokens to an untrustworthy validator, the validator may be jailed or slashed, which applies to delegators’ stakes as well, due to its downtime or consensus faults. To prevent possible risks, choose validators more precisely by paying attention to their experience, quality of infrastructure and uptime.
